-A very typical Brazilian greeting. It means "Hey, everything alright?" or "Hey, everything going well?"

Welcome to my first attempt at blogging. I hope that everything is indeed going well for you. I have thought about creating a blog for a little while, and decided to go ahead and give it a shot- especially after my recent trip to Rio de Janeiro during Carnaval this past week. I wanted to provide another place where those who were interested could read and see a bit more of my South American adventure. Facebook has been a great way for me to keep friends and family updated, but this blog will be a bit more personal and detailed. I hope that you enjoy seeing and reading about my experiences here in Brazil (and hopefully a few other South American countries while I'm south of the States). For those of you who want to live vicariously through me, by all means- have at it. But know that there's nothing like traveling and seeing the world for yourself, with your own pair of eyes ;^)

A big thanks to my family and friends who have been very supportive and encouraging of my venture. A lot of things came together at the right moment for this trip to happen, so thank you all and God for blessing me with this opportunity.
